BOAT TRIP ON LAKE CORBARA IN THE FORELLO GORGES
Among the wonders of the Tiber River Park are these river gorges where the water has eroded the travertine creating numerous grottos and caves, interlinked by salt bridges and tunnels on various levels.
At Pozzi della Piana, a cave system of 2500 metres or so, objects, bones and ceramics dating back to the stone age have been found. A little detour via the Roccaccia View Point at the peak of the gorges is of interest. Safe guided tours can be arranged. The landscape is characterised by high travertine cliff faces, marked by caves and grottos that drop down to the Tiber in its narrow riverbed.
Visit the Pasquarella Hermitage and the Straccallasini Path that leads all the way to the Scoppieto furnace.
Then there is another path leading to Vorgozzo, a collapsed grotto, which is home to a native fern.

This day excursion lasts about 6/7 hours.
1) Leave the Fattoria di Vibio at 9:00
2) Eremo della Pasquarella (Francescan Monastery) and the Forello Gorges
3) Visit to the archeologically and historically interesting Roman Furnace at Scoppieto
4) To the old centre of Civitella di Baschi and a visit to its Ovopinto Museum
5) Break at a turret with breathtaking views of Lake Corbara and the Oasis of Alviano
6) Visit to Montecchio and its Museum of Oil
7) To the famous oenologist Cotarella’s Vineyard Falesco for wine tasting
8) Break for lunch, to be agreed at the moment of booking.
9) Visit to Etruscan Tombs
10) To the Roman port of Pagliano
11) Return to Montecastello di Vibio with visit to the Smallest Theatre in the World and tasting local products at the “Nicchia”.
For a minimum of 4 persons, and a maximum of 8. € 70,00 per person.
